As Elders we are given the responsibilities pertaining to the offices of Elder, Priest, Teacher, and Deacon, and such duties are as follows: "The duties of the elders, priests, teachers, deacons . . . [are] to teach, expound, exhort, baptise, and watch over the church . . . [to] visit the house of each member, and exhort them to pray vocally and in secret and attend to all family duties . . . to watch over the church always, and be with and strengthen them."

    "Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction . . ."

    "Trust no one to be your teacher nor your minister, except he be a man of God, walking in his ways and keeping his commandments . . . and none were consecrated except they were just men. Therefore they did watch over the people, and did nourish them with things pertaining to righteousness."

    "Remember in all things the poor and the needy, the sick and the afflicted, for he that doeth not these things, the same is not my disciple."

  "The Elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
  "Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but a ready mind;
  "Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.
  "And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away."
